MAHI Leather
I was approached by MAHI Leather a little while ago with a very interesting business proposition. They offered to provide me with my choice of leather bag and in return I would feature them in the Useful Links section, here on my website.
It is important to note that even though this bag was given to me for free, that I'm not being paid for this and I wasn't asked to take pictures of the bag or write a blog to promote the bag. My part of the deal was complete once I included MAHI Leather in my Useful Links. This blog is just simply, me, taking an opportunity to provide images and a personal review of this bag.
To begin, I was allowed to choose any bag from MAHI Leathers extensive lineup. I chose a bag which they have named "The Drake". It was the one which stood out to me the most and the one which I believed I would find most use for. Often, when I shoot weddings, I will travel across Ireland, if the wedding is a couple hours of a drive away or more I will stay near to the wedding location the night before so that I am fresh and capable of being at my most creative. This bag looked like an ideal accompaniment for me, especially for bringing my more formal wedding clothes and wash items.
The bag was delivered by FedEx and was packaged very well. I didn't get to open it straight away because, honestly, I was having too much fun running around the house after my daughter. When I, eventually, did get to open the box, I was pleasantly surprised by how much care had been taken to protect the leather, the leather bag was flattened and was inside it's own strong fabric bag which was zipped and this, in turn, was inside a plastic bag and all was inside the FedEx box.
The grain of the leather had me straight away, it was full of character and I know from the look and feel that it will develop a very nice patina in time. The whole bag, from top to bottom, feels extremely well made, the stitching is very solid and the bag has a nice weight. They embroidered the initials for Alan Magner Photography on the bag too which is a very nice touch. Oh, and it smells incredible!!!
Best of all, I feel the bag really suits my style, it's not one perfect colour all round, the leather has a story, in time, I know it will tell a large part of my story.
It would be remiss of me not to mention the contributions that MAHI Leather make to charity. A portion of the price from every bag they sell goes to Frank Water.
